Today, we are recruiting for a Design Engineer to join our team in Egypt. This is an excellent career opportunity for professionals looking to join a truly international team in one of the biggest projects of Siemens Mobility. What are my responsibilities? * Develop primary electrical designs for HV substations, including layouts, single-line diagrams, earthing systems, cable routing, lightning protection systems, and general arrangements. * Prepare and/or transfer design drawings using AutoCAD. * Elaborate conceptual solutions and address complex requirements based on site-specific conditions. * Manage internal and external interfaces related to railway electrification and contact line systems. * Provide technical support, analyze technical issues, and respond to technical inquiries in collaboration with installation teams, project engineering, and project management. * Gather input data from civil works design drawings for electrical substations, bridges, viaducts, and embankments. * Conduct site surveys to propose routing solutions and ensure compatibility with actual site conditions. * Develop cableway construction designs based on gathered data, local practices, and materials commonly used in Egypt, coordinating with stakeholders for optimization. * Review shop drawings to ensure alignment with raceway design, cable routing principles, and cable laying methods. * Evaluate supplier drawings, calculations, and proposals, including electrical interfaces, protection studies, control schemes, and telecommunication systems for substations. * Ensure compliance with national and international standards (e.g., IEC) and railway-specific regulations. * Coordinate with internal teams, offshore teams, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to support seamless project execution. * Support the procurement process by providing technical specifications and input for design-related equipment. * Conduct site inspections to verify implementation against design specifications. * Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) regulations on-site. * Assist in troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues during installation and commissioning. * Apply in-depth knowledge of railway electrification systems and their integration with other systems. * Support on-site activities, including installation supervision, testing, and commissioning. What do I need to qualify for this job? * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering. * 3-7 years of experience in cable raceway and routing design, preferably in railway or infrastructure projects. * Excellent command of CAD software such as AutoCAD, including modules for cable route design and planning. * Proficiency in BIM modeling. * Familiarity with relevant European and international standards, as well as railway safety principles. * Strong knowledge of common practices and standards for cable routing design and cable laying activities, particularly in Egypt. * Understanding of traction power supply systems (AC). * Solid grasp of engineering processes. * Knowledge of both electrical and civil engineering disciplines. * Experience working in international project environments and with intercultural teams. * Advanced 3D visualization and spatial imagination skills. * High level of customer focus and quality orientation. * Fluency in both written and spoken English. * Willingness and ability to travel between project sites of the High-Speed Rail Project in Egypt and internationally, as required.
